There’s a lot to admire about "The Sense of Oneness," a beautifully crafted 3BHK apartment in Ahmedabad. This project is a charming exercise in visual balance where industrial rawness pairs effortlessly with homely warmth. Color and texture fill the space in ways that enrich rather than overwhelm. The interiors seamlessly blend modern aesthetics with raw natural elements, achieving an undeniably authentic feel.
The true highlight of this apartment lies in its thoughtful use of natural materials. While many homes incorporate standard materials, this project dares to embrace the raw beauty of brick, concrete texture, and a variety of woods such as oak, walnut, and teak. Designed by UrbanNest Design Studio, this apartment has been transformed into a cozy sanctuary for a family of four, where each material is chosen with care to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The journey of transformation began with a simple yet profound brief from the clients: to create a cozy home with a feeling of rawness. Delivered as a bare shell, the apartment became a canvas for UrbanNest Design Studio. "Each element within the home is a reflection of the family's persona," explains the design team. From the choice of sustainable materials to the natural color palettes and textures, every detail is imbued with intention and purpose.
The living and dining areas are the heart of the apartment, featuring a thoughtful mix of textures and materials. The space is divided by a swing, which not only serves as a functional piece but also adds a playful element. The centerpiece of the room is a Pichwai, complemented by a custom semi-circular console table. An arch with a concrete texture finish separates the living and dining areas, creating a minimalist frame for the live-edge solid teak wood dining table, accompanied by a sleek wooden bench. Timeless furniture pieces from Fleck India add to the raw, natural aesthetic. Warm tones serve as a compelling foil to the various textures in the space. Additionally, exposed brick cladding on the walls enhances the room's texture and depth.
The master bedroom continues the theme of natural materials and textures. A neatly designed wardrobe features jute sheet infills, mirroring the design language of the bed. The exposed brick wall serves as a striking focal point, providing a sense of rawness and character. A cozy seating corner extends to the balcony, offering a private retreat within the home. The integration of these elements creates a serene and cohesive space, perfect for relaxation and rest.
The kids' bedroom introduces a pop of color with teal accents, contrasting the industrial feel of exposed concrete. The arched wardrobes and linear upholstery add a playful yet sophisticated touch. The room balances the raw textures of concrete with the warmth of solid colors, creating a vibrant and lively environment for the children.
The guest bedroom is designed with a beautiful Indian motif wallpaper, adding an element of traditional charm. The temple space features a chevron pattern wallpaper, enhancing the room's visual interest. This room reflects the same principles of harmony and balance, ensuring that guests feel welcomed and comfortable.
This choice of materials not only elevates the aesthetic appeal but also embodies sustainability and durability—fundamental tenets of the UrbanNest design philosophy. Here, design is not just seen but experienced, making it not just an impersonal apartment, but a home filled with life, stories, and continual inspiration. "The Sense of Oneness" is a testament to how individual narratives can be embedded in physical spaces, transforming them into living biographies.
